Associated with the firm since 1980, John McCarthy represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil litigation cases. He has represented clients in complex personal injury cases, including wrongful death cases, medical malpractice claims, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents and products liability. He has also represented many clients in cases involving contract claims, and business, consumer protection, insurance coverage, home construction and corporate disputes. He served as lead defense investigative, trial and appellate counsel in a large industrial explosion case.
John taught trial methods for five years at Western New England College School of Law, and has conducted numerous legal training seminars. He is the former chairman of the Chicopee Development Corporation, served as trustee of Elms College and has served multiple terms on the City of Chicopee Board of Zoning Appeals. He was a member of the Supreme Judicial Court Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure for 6 years. He also sits on the Hampden County Bar Association arbitration and mediation panel.
John has coached youth and high school sports since 1970.
