Doherty, Wallace attorneys frequently donate their time and expertise to various governmental bodies. Locally, firm attorneys serve or have served on the West Springfield, Wilbraham, and Longmeadow Zoning Boards of Appeal; the Agawam Planning Board; the West Springfield, Longmeadow, and East Longmeadow Conservation Commissions; the Wilbraham Finance Committee; and the Longmeadow School Committee. On the state level, the Judicial Nominating Council, the Lottery Commission, and the Commission on Judicial Conduct have included members of the firm.

Most Doherty, Wallace attorneys participate in the Western Massachusetts Pro Bono Referral Service, which provides counsel to indigent clients, and many take part in the Lawyer for a Day program, a walk-in clinic offering free legal advice on estate and probate matters. In addition, the firm’s attorneys provide pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations such as the Springfield Urban League, the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, and The Learning Tree.

Doherty, Wallace recognizes the importance of supporting education in the community. One firm attorney has been a member of the Massachusetts Board of Regents, which overseas the Commonwealth’s institutions of higher learning; another founded Springfield School Volunteers, which coordinates volunteer efforts throughout the City. Others are on the boards of educational institutions such as Bay Path College, Elms College, and American International College.

Doherty, Wallace is optimistic about the future economic development of Western Massachusetts and plans to play a central role in this expansion.
