The Take It Down Act

This week the Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act, also known as the Take It Down Act, was signed into law.

The legislation amends Section 223 of the Communications Act of 1934 (47 U.S.C. §223), establishing a general prohibition against the nonconsensual distribution of intimate visual depictions on online platforms, including both authentic and computer-generated content. This marks a significant step forward in combating digital exploitation and safeguarding individual privacy.
